  • PowerPoint Presentations
    1. Chapter 1 - Introduction to Computers
    2. Chapter 2 - The Internet and World Wide Web
    3. Chapter 3 - Applications Software

    DON'T HAVE POWER POINT??  Here is a link to the Power Point Viewer download site.   It may take up to 10 minutes to download depending on your dial up speed.  Once downloaded and installed it allows you to view full Power Point presentations without having Power Point on your computer.

  • You will also need to work these two Word assignments and submit them to me by email.  Word XP is needed to do these and it is available on Texas College lab computers.

     

  • Each chapter you must take the quiz from the companion web site.  Click on the link, login with the password and username that came with your text, make sure you are joined to my class in the gradebook, click on the chapter of interest and then take the practice test.  Be sure and send me the grade through the gradebook.        

First Time Course Port User

 Click on the link below.  It will open a new window with the CoursePort web site.  You must have connectivity to the web, so if you are dial-up you will have to connect first.

 You can switch between these instructions and the new window by choosing the appropriate icon from the task bar at the bottom of your screen.

You will have to click on New User Registration the first time.  You must have a valid email so if you do not have email, stop now and go get an email account.  I provided instruction on how to get a Yahoo account within these current student pages.

 Fill out the information and remember to save your user name and password somewhere because you will need them each time you log in to take a practice test for each chapter.  These practice grades count toward your final grade.

 After this you can use the user name and password to log in for each chapter practice test.

 Next you need to choose your product.  This is your textbook  Discovering Computers 2009 Online Companion.

 Then you need to join a class.  Click on that link and put in our class code.

 Once you take a test and submit, the grade will show up in the gradebook where I can see it to.  You can go to that grade and send me an email.  Think about it – If you take it more than once, you can tell me the best one.

 REMEMBER – THESE ARE PRACTICE TESTS FOR EACH CHAPTER.  YOU WILL STILL TAKE A FULL UP TEST AFTER EVERY THREE CHAPTERS.  THESE WILL BE SHOWN IN A SEPARATE LINK IN EACH PHASE.

When you have completed all three chapters, and their quizzes, you may take the test.  The test must be completed by midnight of the date shown in your class schedule.  Fail to complete by that time will result in a zero.  You may take the test only once.  Once you start the test you must complete it so make sure you will be undisturbed.
